Referrals & Friend Invites

Your existing players are one of your best acquisition channels. FirstLook lets you grant players invite codes they can share with friends — and the sign-ups they drive are tracked as referrals, so you can see (and reward) who’s growing your playtest.

Friend Invites

For each Role, you can configure if and how many invites your players can send to their friends. They’ll receive unique links they can share with their friends, and find them on their Dashboard - Learn more

Invites vs. referral links

A friend invite differs from a referral link. Invites skip the Sign-Up and Waitlist steps, sending players immediately to onboarding. Referral links — configured on the Waitlist step — direct players to the sign-up step, where they join the waitlist like any other sign-up.

Granting invites

Beyond what a Role unlocks automatically, you can grant invites to players at any time:

• From a player’s profile - click Grant Invites.
• In bulk from the Players tab - filter down to the cohort you want, select the players, and choose Grant Invites from the bulk actions.

Either way, you configure:

• Invites - how many invite codes the player receives (defaults to 1).
• Uses per invite - how many times each invite can be used (defaults to 1).
• Role - the role granted to players who join through the invite.

Large bulk grants are processed in the background, so you don’t need to keep the page open.

Sharing

Players find their invite links on their Dashboard and share them with friends. Anyone who joins through a player’s invite is funneled directly to the invite stage, skipping sign-up like any invited player. Referral tracking and rewards are tied to referral links and the waitlist referral features, which route new players through sign-up.

Tracking referrals

Referrals are tracked per player — open a player’s profile to see the referrals view with the players they’ve brought in. Referrals also appear in the Players tab, so you can track who’s driving new sign-ups.

Rewarding referrals

You can turn referrals into a growth loop by rewarding the players who drive them:

• Rewards - reward conditions can be based on the number of players someone has referred, so referrers earn points and unlock tiers automatically.
• Referral Gamification - on the Waitlist step, set a referral goal, the reward for hitting it, and a reward message.
