Basic Setup

FirstLook can be used without much customization, but configuring a few basics before you get going will help you make the most of the platform — whether you’re running campaigns, gathering feedback, or engaging your community.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to:

  1. Connect your Discord server
  2. Add your Steam App ID
  3. Upload your logo and key art

Each of these steps helps personalize and connect your FirstLook experience so your players and fans recognize your brand from the start.

A Discord server is an easy way to connect with your audience for updates, events, or discussions. FirstLook integrates directly with Discord to automate roles, welcome messages, and access to particular conversations.

Once you have selected which Discord server you want to utilize with FirstLook, read through our Discord Setup instructions in order to properly connect FirstLook.

While optional, linking Discord early helps you centralize communication and strengthen your community from day one.

If your game is listed on Steam, adding your Steam App ID allows you to connect your FirstLook audience directly to your Steam page.

  • Prompt users to add your game to their Wishlist.
  • Track which of your community members have already wishlisted it.

To find your App ID, look at your game’s Steam page — it’s the number in the URL after /app/.

Once you have it:

  1. Go to your project’s Settings → Integrations.
  2. Enter your Steam App ID and click Save.

You’ll now see wishlist data reflected in your dashboard and can include wishlist CTAs in announcements.

Your visuals help reinforce your brand identity across FirstLook pages, emails, and dashboards.

  • Logo: Displayed in the header of your public pages and announcements.
  • Key Art: Used as the background on your signup and onboarding pages.
